The Provincial Government of Cagayan (Sangguniang Panlalawigan) today approved Green Power Cagayan Philippines Inc (GPCPI) to construct and operate biomass power plants within the Municipality of Alcala with a capacity of upto 35 MW.

The GPCPI power plant is to be built in Alcala north of Tuguegarao and will provide 3,400 jobs within the area primarily within the farming community. When fully commissioned the project is expected to deliver in excess of $US 19 million per annum of revenues to the Cagayan area through the purchase of biomass derived from agricultural waste, logistics and other anciliary services.
