21 October 2011 - Global Green Power PLC Corporation opens office in Maramag, Bukidnon on the Island of Mindanao.
The GGPC Mindanao office is tasked with the development of three 35 MW biomass power plants within Mindanao, the first of which, Green Power Bukidnon Philippines Inc., is being built in the Municipality of Maramag in Bukidnon.
The office opening comes at a time that energy reserves are being reduced due to the de-rating of power producing assets in Mindanao leading to increased power reserve weakness within the Mindanao Grid and increased possibility of power outages.
The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) recently stated that the National Power Corporation (NPC) had notified stakeholders that capacities of some hydro plants of National Power Corp. had been “de-rated” due to their age, particularly: Agus 1 plant to 35 MW from 80 MW, Agus 2 to 80 MW from 180 MW, Agus 4 to 100 MW from 158 MW, Agus 5 to 30 MW from 55 MW, Agus 6 to 130 MW from 200 MW, Agus 7 to 25 MW from 54 MW, Pulangi 4 to 200 MW from 255 MW, and Western Mindanao Power Corp.’s diesel plant to 90 MW from 100.
The delivery of three 35 MW Biomass base-load power plants within the Mindanao Grid will improve Grid stability, provide increased generation mix, green jobs and additional income to the farming and host communities where the plants are located.
